What is PollingPoint?
PollingPoint, operated by Polimetrix, Inc., conducts polls on the Internet about public affairs and other topics of general interest. PollingPoint polls are taken by people from all over the nation who have agreed to share their thoughts on social and political issues.
How long are PollingPoint surveys?
Most PollingPoint surveys are very short and should only take you about five to seven minutes to complete. A typical PollingPoint survey is only about 20 to 30 fairly short questions in total. Occasionally, there will be longer surveys or surveys with more complex questions. The longest surveys should not take more than 20 minutes to complete.
For what purposes is the data collected by PollingPoint used?
Data from PollingPoint surveys are used by newspapers, television networks, newsmagazines, public affairs groups, scholars, and political campaigns to reveal and analyze public opinion on important social and political topics.
Who pays for these polls?
PollingPoint conducts polls for a diverse group of clients to help them better understand public views about current affairs. PollingPoint is a non-partisan polling organization, and we conduct polls for both Democrats and Republicans - liberal, moderate and conservative. However, our clients do not always give us permission to identify them. Rest assured that when you answer a poll at PollingPoint, your privacy is secure, and your responses do make a difference.
Where can I see results of your polls?
You can view a selection of results on our results page. As you may know, many Internet polls are not scientific because they don't represent a random sample of the population as a whole. This means that their results are usually not a reliable measure of public opinion. PollingPoint uses advanced statistical techniques to correct for this kind of response bias. Because our only business is survey research, it is important for us to release poll results only when we can be completely confident that they have been scientifically corrected for bias.
I took a survey but don't see all of the results posted. Why do you only show some of the results?
PollingPoint conducts surveys for a wide variety of clients, and is sometimes asked to keep the results from those surveys confidential.
Will the information I provide to PollingPoint be confidential?
Yes. Your responses will be used only for statistical tabulations, such as "50% of the public
is in favor of a tax cut" or "10% more women than men voted for Democratic candidates."
Your individual answers will never be revealed to anyone in a manner that reveals your identity.
Please see our Privacy Policy for complete details.
Will I receive e-mail messages from anyone other than PollingPoint?
Under no conditions will PollingPoint give, rent, or sell your e-mail address to anyone else or allow messages to be sent to you by third parties.
Do I have to buy or subscribe to anything?
No. PollingPoint conducts only legitimate public opinion polls. You will not be asked to buy or subscribe to anything.
I took your poll but didn't see a place to enter to win the iPod Nano. How can I enter to win?
PollingPoint invites their panelists via email to take polls. If you are invited and complete a poll, you are automatically entered into a contest to win an Apple iPod Nano. We will notify you by e-mail if you are chosen as the winner, so it is important that you at least provide your name and e-mail address at the end of the survey. If you are chosen, you will be asked to select the color of your iPod Nano at that time. PollingPoint will select one contest winner each month.
