Who Represents Black America? PollingPoint Respondents Speak Out.

With some pundits saying Barack Obama's presidential candidacy represents a "post-racial" America, we were interested to hear your views on the representation of African-Americans in national media and society. Overall, African-American respondents felt more strongly than others that the country has a way to go before achieving a post-racial reality.

Do NEWS media sources fairly represent African Americans?
Do ENTERTAINMENT media sources fairly represent African Americans?
Which of these people would you most trust to speak for African-Americans?
Are there enough African-American government officeholders?
Would you vote for an African-American presidential candidate? Why or why not?

"200% yes, I will vote for an African American president! Let's give him a try!"

"Yes! I definitely would vote for an African American presidential candidate. It is time that America realizes the color of one's skin has absolutely no bearing on the individual's intelligence! And the same goes for a woman!"

"I would vote for a conservative African-American. A candidate who is qualified and represents my views on important issues will always get my vote."

"A good candidate is a good candidate. Race is superficial."

"Absolutely--if the person were qualified. Obama is not. Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice are qualified."

"Not at this time. It is time for a woman to help Ameirca. The men have had their opportunity."

"Not at this time. The country isn't ready for this."

"Not currently. Maybe if we were less apt to accept reverse racism I would be more supportive."

"I wouldn't vote for someone who insisted on describing himself as African-American (instead of American)."
