Opinion on Palin in 2012 Divided, but Support Among Republicans Remains Strong
PALO ALTO, Calif., July 17, 2009:
35% of Americans would consider voting for Sarah Palin if she runs for President in 2012. YouGov PollingPoint asked this question in a July 12-14, 2009 poll, shortly after Sarah Palin announced her intention to resign the governorship of Alaska.

Among Republicans, 75% would consider voting for Sarah Palin for President. The percent of respondents with unfavorable opinions of Sarah Palin exceeds those with favorable opinions by a margin of 52% to 39%.

President Obama’s approval rating in the July 12-14 poll remained steady at 51% for the second week in a row. 51% represents the lowest approval rating recorded by YouGov PollingPoint since President Obama took office.

These results are from a weekly YouGov PollingPoint public opinion tracking poll conducted for publication in The Economist. The poll surveyed 1,000 respondents and was fielded from July 12, 2009 to July 14, 2009. Results from interviews conducted online by members of the PollingPoint panel are representative of the U.S. adult population. The margin of error for this poll is +/- 5%.
